The Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Sir Allwell Ihunda has promised to sustain the existing collaboration between his Administration and the Charkin Maritime Academy.
The Mayor made the promise during his good will message at the Matriculation / Induction Ceremony of Merchant – Navy Cadets of the Charkin Maritime Academy.
“We commend the Chairman and governing board of Charkin Maritime Academy for establishing this life changing institution, we are proud that it is an institution owned by one of our own and hope that the standard will be sustained. Let me also congratulate the matriculating Cadets and advise that you focus on your academic works and be disciplined, so that at the end of the day, it’ll be of benefits to you, your family, the state and country in general,” the Mayor said.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Founder and Proprietor of the Charkin Maritime Academy / Charkin Maritime and Offshore Training Centre, Sir Dr. Charles K. Wami thanked the Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government and his counterparts from Andoni and Obio-Akpor Local Government Areas for sponsoring some of the Matriculating Cadets of the academy.
The Charkin Maritime Academy is the only private maritime institution in Nigeria that is accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to run National Diploma in Nautical Science and Maritime Engineering Technology, and also by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) to run both Foreign – Going and Near Coastal Voyages (NVC) Watch – Keeping Courses for Desk Officers and Marine Engineers.
Some notable dignitaries from Port Harcourt City Local Government Area that graced the matriculation/induction ceremony of the charkin maritime academy includes;
