Representatives from Alliance Francaise, a Port Harcourt based french school that has been in the vanguard of teaching french language and it’s culture in the Niger Delta paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor Of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Sir Allwell Ihunda today in his office.
Director of the school,Marina Lacal who led the team thanked the Mayor for granting their request for a visit despite his busy schedule.
She said they decided to interface with Sir Allwell Ihunda because they have seen that most his programmes and policies since he assumed office are youth friendly.
“Nigeria is an anglophone country surrounded by mostly francophone nations,namely cameroon,chad,Togo, Burkina faso etc; it’s important Nigerians understand the french language to promote bilateral agreements within the region”.
She said since the inception of the school in Port Harcourt in 1981,the school has contributed so much in the promotion and development of french culture and language in the Niger Delta.
Responding, Sir Allwell Ihunda thanked the Director and her team for the visit and promised to always support the french school whenever he is called upon.
“I will direct the Secretary of the Local Government,Barr.Chile Kay Owuru to work out modalities on how to partner with you in training our children in french language during the long vacation”; Sir Allwell Ihunda said.
Sir Allwell Ihunda later went on an inspection of the ongoing renovation of Abali Park also, the erosion control and pedestrian bridge in Akwuzu street, Rumuwoji community.
The Mayor was on the inspection with his Chief Of Staff Mr Glory Oparaodu, Supervisors for works and transport Pastor Sunny Wokekoro and Mr John Amadichukwu, Director of works Engr.Solomon Addoh and a retuine of aides.
