Sosocare: 250 Port Harcourt residents benefited from the Health Insurance program sponsored by Mayor of Port Harcourt
Partners Soso-care to provide community health insurance for 250 beneficiaries.
The Port Harcourt City Local Government Council has hosted a waste to health conference organized by a leading mobile health insurance company Soso Care.
The theme of the conference “Waste Management for Health Inclusion & Job Creation”.
was coined from the administration’s desire to partner with an organisation that can aid the organization and provision of free community health insurance cover for 250 women, youths and children in Port Harcourt City.
In his keynote address at the conference, Mayor Of Port Harcourt City, Sir Allwell Ihunda DSSRS JP commended Soso Care for keeping to the mutual agreement made with the Local Government Council.
He informed that sometime last year, the council entered into an agreement with Soso Care to support the people of Port Harcourt with health care insurance which monies will be gotten from plastic wastes generated from the LGA.
“The Council kept its part of the agreement and Soso Care has come today to deliver on their part of the bargain by providing community health insurance cover for 250 beneficiaries who will go to any pharmacy within their locality, get tested for malaria and collect the basic drugs needed for treatment”. He noted.
In his opening remarks on behalf of Soso Care, Mr. Nonso Opurum thanked the Mayor for the tremendous support he has so far given their organisation since meeting with them last year.
He promised that Soso Care will always remain a dependable partner with the Port Harcourt City Local Government.
Some speakers at the conference presented different topics related to health, environment and financial impact.
High point of the conference was the presentation of medical health insurance to 250 beneficiaries by the Mayor and the conferment of an award of Ambassador of the environment to Sir Allwell Ihunda by a representative of soso care.
