SIR ALLWELL IHUNDA REAFFIRMS HIS COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINANCE OF THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP, TRADES AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME OF HIS ADMINISTRATION
_Says successful trainees will be presented for inclusion in the data base of the Rivers State ministry of youth development_
Mayor Of Port Harcourt City, Sir Allwell Ihunda JP has said that his administration will continue the entrepreneurship, trades and skills development programme it started in 2021, but subject to terms and conditions which will always be made known to interested applicants.
The Mayor made this known at the graduation ceremony and presentation of certificates to successful trainees in the second batch of the programme which held in the Council Secretariat, Moscow Road.
He said the ceremony offered him the opportunity to receive the successful trainees who were trained in 6 different technical crafts, and whose training duration was extended to 6 months.
The extension enabled the trainees acquire the requisite knowledge to be awarded certifications, and be employable by relevant agencies and companies within and outside Nigeria.
The trainees were trained in technical crafts such as;
Pipeline and structural welding, Air-conditioning and refrigeration, computer and GSM Maintenance, Fabrication and welding, Domestic and industrial electrification,also Instrumentation.
He said with the exception of the 25 trainees in Industrial electrification and instrumentation who will receive their certificates early next year all other trainees will receive theirs today.
He thanked the training partners for the programme and the Federal Ministry of Labour for the tremendous support.
“We thank our training partner and the Federal Ministry of Labour who administered the test on our trainees and issued the certificates.
We are very happy with your encouraging engagements in this programme, the successful trainees will be presented for inclusion in the data base of the Rivers State ministry of youth development for employment opportunities”.
In conclusion, the Mayor congratulated the successful trainees for their perseverance despite the challenges encountered during the training and urged them to present themselves and compete for consideration to work in their respective field of training.
The certificate presentation ceremony brought to a successful close of the second batch of the Entrepreneurship, Trades and Skills Development Programme of the Sir Allwell Ihunda’s led administration that has so far successfully trained over 600 youths and women across the LGA.
The facilitator of the programme and Managing Director, Arthurson Business support services limited, Mr. Arthur Kalagbor remarked that they are thankful to Sir Allwell Ihunda for the opportunity given to them to work closely with the Port Harcourt City Local Government.
He said the presence of the Mayor in the ceremony is a testimony to his commitment to the programme he designed for his administration in the LGA.
Highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of certificates and some cash gifts to the trainees by the Mayor who was supported by the Leader of the legislative council Hon. Hanachor Noble Orlu, Head of Local Government Administration of Port Harcourt Mrs. Helen Chiorlu and the Secretary of the Local Government Barr.Chile Kay-Owuru.
