The Mayor of Port Harcourt and chairman of ALGON in Rivers State, Sir Allwell Ihunda has reiterated his commitment to use sustainable strategy in curbing crude oil theft and soot in Port Harcourt.
This he said through the secretary of Port Harcourt City Local Government, Barr. Chile-Kay Owuru at the 5th NESH Oil And Gas Round Table that held on June 28th, 2022 at Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
His statement reads in part:
“The Local Government chairmen in Rivers State through the effort of the state governor, H.E. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike concluded to end ‘soot’ in Rivers State and by extension to reduce loss of revenue in Rivers State.”
“What we do is to locate the dump sites, arrest and confiscate their illegal products.”
“This have helped to reduce soot, environmental degradation and insecurity in Rivers State.”
“I welcome you all to the city of Port Harcourt. Enjoy the event and the warm hospitality of the people of Port Harcourt City ” – Barr. Chile Kay-Owuru
The event was held under the distinguished chairmanship of King Alfred Diete-Spiff, Amanayabo of Twon Brass Kingdom, Bayelsa State.
The event was convened by Emeka Ugwu-Oju (founder, NESH foundation). It had a book presentation of ‘Oloibiri to Bonny’ written by Dr. Godswill Ihetu, which was presented by the Labour Party Presidential Candidate for the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi via zoom.
An interactive session followed, which was held on a round table.
Some top Government functionaries and key players in the oil & gas industry attended the event.
Barr. Chile-Kay Owuru was accompanied by the special adviser on transport to the Mayor Of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Mr. Sinclair Ogbonda and a retinue of other appointees of the local government council.
