The Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Sir (Hon.) Allwell Ihunda DSSRS JP, has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful across Port Harcourt City as they join millions of Muslims around the world to celebrate the 2026 Eid el‑Fitr, marking the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a goodwill message issued through his press office, the Mayor commended the Muslim community for their devotion, discipline and spiritual commitment demonstrated throughout the period of fasting, prayers and acts of charity during Ramadan.

Sir Ihunda noted that the Eid-el-Fitr celebration serves as a reminder of the core values of love, sacrifice, tolerance and compassion, which are essential for peaceful coexistence and sustainable development in society. He urged the Muslim faithfuls in Port Harcourt to sustain these virtues beyond the Ramadan season and continue to promote unity, harmony and mutual respect among residents of the city.

The Mayor further called on all Muslims to use the occasion of the celebration to offer prayers for the continued peace, stability and progress of Port Harcourt City, Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole.

While wishing all Muslims a joyous and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration, Sir Ihunda also encouraged residents to celebrate responsibly and remain security conscious during the festive period, while urging relevant security agencies to maintain vigilance to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for all.

He prayed that Almighty Allah accepts the prayers and sacrifices offered during Ramadan and grants everyone peace, good health and prosperity.
