*SIR ALLWELL IHUNDA SET TO LAUNCH THE 3RD BATCH OF THE SKILLS ACQUISITION PROGRAMME OF HIS ADMINISTRATION*
_Urge the youths of Port Harcourt to continue in their peaceful disposition, witnessed since he assumed office, and be vigilant against saboteurs._
Mayor Of Port Harcourt City, Sir Allwell Ihunda DSSRS, JP has said the third batch of the skills acquisition programme of his administration will commence in less than a fortnight.
He made this known in his welcome remark during the advocacy and sensitization programme of the Rivers State Ministry of Youth Development held in the local government council hall.
The Mayor remarked that aside from the provision of infrastructures, his administration has engaged the youths in different skill acquisition programmes.
“Beyond the provision of infrastructure, we have engaged the youths meaningfully in different skill acquisition programmes.”
He said his administration has engaged the youths of the LGA in various entrepreneurship programmes since 2021 till date, and by next week, the third batch of the programme will commence.
The Mayor said the LGA has witnessed a peaceful atmosphere since he assumed office in 2021, and encouraged the youths to continue in the same spirit and to increase their vigilance against manhole thieves and other saboteurs who are on rampage.
“Crisis will not take us anywhere. Rather, it deters development in our communities and wards.
I want to encourage our youths to continue in the same peaceful manner they have conducted themselves since I assumed office two years ago.”
He promised to complete the spread of Infrastructure dividends of democracy evenly across the twenty remaining 3 wards of the LGA before the end of his administration.
” When you elected us in 2021, we assured you that we will try as much as we can to deliver the dividends of democracy to the various wards, by the special grace of God, today out of the 20 wards in the LGA we have impacted projects in 17 wards and before the end of October this year, the remaining three wards will feel our presence “.
In his speech, The Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development in Rivers State, Hon. Chisom Kenneth Gbali PhD. thanked the youths of Port Harcourt for creating a wonderful ambience for the stability of government in the state.
The commissioner said the advocacy and sensitization visit to the 23 LGA’s in the state has the blessings of the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminialayi Fubara GSSRS.
He said the Governor thought it necessary to involve the youths in every sector of governance in the state.
The permanent secretary of the ministry of youth development in the state Dr. Roland Obed-Whyte thanked the Mayor for all he has been doing to promote youth development in the state.
He said Port Harcourt City Local Government Area ranks amongst the top four LGA’S that has prioritized the welfare of the youths in their LGA’S.
The programme later went into an interactive session, the youths asked questions bothering on their welfare and got responses from the Honourable Commissioner, The Mayor and some members of staff of the ministry of youth development.
