*SIR ALLWELL IHUNDA DESCRIBES FORMER COUNCIL TREASURER MRS. OBIAGELI AMIFOR AS AN ASSET TO THE LGA., AS THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT HOLDS SEND-FORTH VALIDATORY SESSION IN HER HONOUR.*

Mayor of Port Harcourt City, Sir Allwell Ihunda DSSRS JP. has described the immediate past treasurer of the Port Harcourt City Council as an asset to the LGA.

He made the remark in his speech at a valedictory programme organized by the local government council in honour of its immediate past treasurer, Mrs. Obiageli Amifor, who just retired from public service.

The Mayor extolled the sterling qualities of Mrs. Amifor while in office.

“Today we are celebrating our mother, sister and former treasurer, Mrs. Obiageli Amifor who just retired from service.
We are celebrating her for the excellent services she rendered to our Local Government, I can clearly say that she was an asset to the council.”, he remarked.

The Mayor furthermore said commitment to public service is a huge ingredient in the achievement of progress and development in any society, hence he has always advocated for total commitment to duty by the workers and political appointees of the council.

In her opening remark, the head of Local Government Administration, Mrs. Helen Chiorlu described Mrs. Amifor as a dedicated worker in the local government, who discharged her duty dispassionately wherever she was posted to.

In their separate eulogies, the Treasurer of the council, Ms. Victoria Owhor and the Director of procurement, Mr. Oputuboye Braide said the retired treasurer was a dependable and hard working partner in progress while she was in service.

Responding to the goodwill messages, a highly elated Mrs. Amifor described the honour done to her as unprecedented; described Sir Allwell Ihunda as a hard-working leader who has the interest of the people of Port Harcourt at heart; and prayed God Almighty to grant him sufficient grace as he pilots the affairs of the City. She also called on the people of the city to give him a second chance to consolidate on the good works he has started in the LGA.
