*SIR ALLWELL IHUNDA CALLS FOR RENEWED STAKEHOLDERS INTEREST TOWARDS REBUILDING A CENTRAL HALL FOR IHURUOHNA PEOPLE*
_Says he will always support activities of Ogbakor Ikwerre Socio-cultural organization_
Mayor Of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Sir Allwell Ihunda has called for concerted efforts by stakeholders of Ikwerre Ethnic Nationality to build a Central Hall for the Ikwerre People.
Sir Allwell Ihunda made the call today, when a delegation of the leadership and members of Ogbakor Ikwerre Socio-cultural organization, Obio Akpor and Port Harcourt, OPA Branch paid a courtesy call on him in his office.
The Mayor in his remarks emphasized the need for the leadership of the organisation to be united in their management of the mandate given them by the Ikwerre people.
He equally assured them of his support and encouragement, in ensuring that the culture and pride of the people are sustained and promoted.
Earlier, leader of the delegation, Chief Chris Omunakwe congratulated Sir Allwell Ihunda on the anniversary of his one year in office as Mayor of the city and familiarized themselves with him.
He said the OPA branch of the organization was formed over half a century ago for the promotion of the interest of Ikwerre ethnic nationality.
He said they decided to visit Sir Allwell Ihunda because of their knowledge of his proactive disposition to leadership.
Amongst several requests made to the Mayor by Ogbakor Ikwerre Socio-cultural organization OPA branch includes;
*Building of a town hall
*Sponsorship of the golden jubilee anniversary of their organization, amongst several others.
Responding, The Mayor said a situation where different Socio-cultural organizations of Ikwerre interest forge different interests from that of Ogbakor Ikwerre should be discouraged, he also appealed that all interests should be unified in building a single hall for Ikwerre people.
He also promised to attend to their other requests in line with the council’s financial disposition.
