*SIR ALLWELL IHUNDA INUAGURATES SPECIAL TASKFORCE ON STREET TRADING,ILLEGAL STRUCTURES, ACTIVITIES OF NIGHT CLUBS,PARKING OF TRUCKS BEYOND 48HRS, ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION, ROADSIDE MECHANICS AND ACTIVITIES OF CART PUSHERS*

Mayor Of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Sir Allwell Ihunda has inuagurated a special taskforce to rid Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of some nefarious activities as highlighted by Gov Nyesom Ezenwo Wike in his New Year message to the people of Rivers State.
Secretary Of Port Harcourt City Local Government,Barr. Chile-Kay Owuru who welcomed the members,urged them to be disciplined in the discharge of their duty.
The Mayor inuagurated two seperate committees composed of over fifty persons, with a mandate to rid the city of street trading, illegal structures, activities of night clubs, indiscriminate parking of trucks and articulated vehicles beyond 48hrs, Environmental Sanitation and activities of cart pushers.
Sir Allwell Ihunda said he carefully selected members of the both committees, and charged them to adhere strictly to their terms of reference.
“You are going out to the public,we expect you to be image makers of the Local Government.
Don’t go and create problems for us or tarnish the image of the Local Government”;The Mayor said.
The Mayor said the committee is expected to enforce the ban on street trading, especially the use of tables and umbrellas on the streets.
Activities of night clubs on Abacha road within the casablanca area,were prostitution and the sales of hard drugs holdsway in the city.
Shops and supermarkets within that area are not included.
“There are legitimate owners of clubs and lounges that have not constituted themselves as nuisance to the society,pls allow them to do their business,also advise them to ensure that they don’t allow prostitutes and petty traders hang around their business premises”;He stated.
Sir Allwell Ihunda charged them to enforce the use of waste bins in the Old and New GRA,stop the indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the median, ensure that scavengers do not operate anymore in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area.
Some other mandate of the committee includes;
enforcement on the ban on cart pushers,stop the activities of road side mechanics,also ensure they move into their garage.
Sir Allwell Ihunda said anyone caught violating the directives of the Governor will be arrested and prosecuted,also same fate awaits those that will interfare with the activities of the newly constituted taskforce.
Both committees has Mr John Amadichukwu the Supervisor For Works and Engr. Mgbamoka Christian Ndubuisi , Chairman Of the Environmental Sanitation Committee as Chairmen.
