ASSOCIATION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS OF NIGERIA,RIVERS STATE CHAPTER,PROTESTS AGAINST INEC’S DELIBERATE ATTEMPT TO DISENFRANCHISE ELIGIBLE VOTERS IN THE STATE.

_Vows to resist any plot by INEC in whatever guise to depopulate eligible voters in the state ahead of the 2023 elections_

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria *ALGON* Rivers State chapter,led by the chairman and Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Sir Allwell Ihunda JP stormed the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in the state to protest against the commission’s deliberate attempt to disenfranchise eligible voters in the state in the ongoing continuous voters registration exercise.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues,Mayor Of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area,Sir Allwell Ihunda frowned at the situation were the commission sent out only one machine to each of the twenty three local government areas to cover the entire exercise,also continued failure of the machine in all centres across the state.

Sir Allwell Ihunda admonished the commission to jettison any act that will jeopardize the current exercise.

He demanded the upgrading of the server in the next seven days, to adequately capture the eligible voting population in the state,also the immediate deployment of more staff,materials and machines to the various wards,instead of limiting their presence to the local government headquarters alone.

“In terms of voting population in the country,Lagos state,Kano state and Rivers state rank topmost,infact Rivers state is the political powerhouse of the south south.
We will resist any deliberate attempt by INEC to depopulate eligible voters in Rivers State ahead of the 2023 General elections”,Sir Allwell Ihunda said.
