The Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Sir Allwell Ihunda DSSRS, JP, commissioned the two hundred and eighty eight stalls in Oroworukwo Community Ultra Modern Market, conceived and constructed by his administration to the glory of God.
The epoch making event which had in attendance HRM Eze Barr. Uchechukwu Isaiah Elikwu, DSSRS. JP., Eze Epara Rebisi XII, Paramount Ruler of Port Harcourt, as the Special Guest of Honour. The event also witnessed a huge turnout of other notable dignitaries who made the event very colourful and successful.
Giving his goodwill remark during the commissioning, the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, and former Member of Federal House of Representatives, Chief the Honourable Barr. Ken Chikere, DSSRS, appreciated Sir Allwell Ihunda for delivering on his electioneering campaign promise to Ward Nine (9) Oroworukwo Community by constructing the tastefully furnished market. He equally charged other communities to own up every project executed by Government in their area and use it to their advantage, as Government cannot come back to protect the projects.
Eze Barr Ken Chikere also thanked the community for supporting the administration of Sir Allwell Ihunda and appealed to them to always take actions geared towards peace in the State. He went further and declared his support for the second term ambition of Sir Allwell Ihunda DSSRS, JP.
“if for any reason, Sir Allwell presents himself for a re-election, I will support him with everything within my power. I am not supporting him because he is Allwell, but because he has capacity. And that, he has shown enough capacity for all to see” he concluded.”
Thereafter, the Mayor of Port Harcourt City Sir Allwell Ihunda DSSRS, JP, in his speech, extended his warmth seasonal greetings to the good people of Oroworukwo Community, he prayed for sustained peace in the community and the state at large. He went further and thanked the people for owning the project and for their peaceful disposition. Particularly the youths, women, chiefs and elders, as there was no complaint of stoppage of work by any group throughout the duration of the project.
“I am grateful to God who has been with our administration since assumption of office in 2021. This is two years and six months since we assumed office, and we have received overwhelming support from the community. Sometime in March, 2021, we came here and asked for your support and made promises that, if voted into office, we will rebuild this market to international standard for our traders. And today, we have come to commission the gigantic edifice that will add economic values to our traders. This is promise made and promise fulfilled
Let me state unequivocally that, this project would not have been completed without the cordial working relationship between the Councillor and myself, and principal officers of council. I want to specifically thank everyone who has contributed to the completion of this amazing project.” And he thereafter invited the special guest of honour His Royal Majesty, Eze Barr. Uche Isaiah Elikwu DSSRS, to address his people and subsequently commission the project.
In his remark, the King of Port Harcourt City, Eze Barr Uche Isaiah Elikwu sent his Royal greetings to all and sundry in line with the festive season. He extolled the pragmatic leadership style of Sir Allwell Ihunda, as could be seen by the quality of projects executed across the twenty wards of council with pictorial evidences.
“This is a leadership that has come to salvage the pathetic situation of our people to a dignified one. Today, we are participating in a historical landmark project in Oroworukwo Community in Rebisi Kingdom that will stand the test of time.
The location of this project is very strategic as it is right in the heart of Port Harcourt City. Anyone coming into town through the Port Harcourt -Aba Expressway will see its splendour and beauty from afar. I am very confident that, this market will bring succour to our traders, and it will be put into good use.”
The Royal Father expressed his happiness and also thanked Sir Allwell Ihunda for living above board by rebranding the landscape of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area.
Eze Elikwu prayed God to protect the Mayor and family, as he commissioned the market in the name of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
It was indeed a wonderful and an epoch making event that brought many people together.
In attendance were party leaders and stakeholders who graced the event in grand style.
