*SIR ALLWELL IHUNDA PROVIDES INTERVENTIONIST REFUSE DUMP SITE IN PORT HARCOURT*
_Warns residents of the consequences of dumping refuse on the median of the roads in the City._
In his determination to keep Port Harcourt clean at all times, Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area,Sir Allwell Ihunda, has provided an interventionist dump site, this is in response to the dire need to eliminate the periodic accumulation of refuse in some parts of the City.
The Mayor who was physically present at the dump site said, “The challenges we have is the number of man hours wasted at the designated dump site by compactor truck drivers; which in turn periodically increases the refuse in some parts of our city. What we are doing here is to provide an interventionist dump site for those compactor truck drivers operating in Port Harcourt for more effective refuse disposal.” Sir Allwell Ihunda said.
Sir Allwell Ihunda also expressed his displeasure over the continuous dumping of refuse on the medians of our roads.
“Let me once again warn residents to discontinue the dumping of refuse on the median of our roads,rather they should use designated receptacles provided by government, anyone caught in that irresponsible act will be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Environmental Sanitation laws of the state, we can not continue to deface the beautiful roads and infrastructures built by the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike.” The Mayor said.
In the same vein, Sir Allwell Ihunda decried the activities of scavengers and warned that no one will be spared when caught.
He also visited some receptacles in Port Harcourt to monitor the activities of refuse disposal contractors.
