….Phalga Mayor complies with the state government directives to lockdown parts of the city.

Rivers State Governor,Nyesom Ezenwo Wike CON,GSSRS,POS(Africa)has announced the lockdown of some parts of the state from dawn of 28th April 2020 for failing to comply with some laid down regulations of the state government to check the spread of covid-19 in the state.
It is by this decision that the Mayor of Portharcourt City Hon Victor Ihunwo JP is complying with the directives of the state government.

Hon Victor Ihunwo has announced the lockdown of Elekahia community,the entire stretch of Rumukalagbor- Elekahia link road and some parts of stadium road that fall into Portharcourt City.

Human and vehicular movements in these areas is prohibited, all business places must remain closed while residents must stay in their houses till further notice.

Hon Victor Ihunwo has directed that the councillors of Phalga ward 19 Mrs Jennifer Dike Welle and ward 8 Hon Charles Gbekee Kalagbor must ensure that this directives is adhered to completely.

Landlords,Chiefs and Elders of Rumukalagbor and Elekahia Communities must ensure that their tenants does not flout this directives or may have themselves to blame.

Hon Victor Ihunwo JP is committed to supporting the state government in ensuring that covid-19 is completely defeated in the state.

The Mayor in his usual proactive nature will move round the affected areas to ensure that this directives is adhered to completely, any person,group of persons or business owner caught flouting this directives will face the full wrath of the law.

It has equally come to the notice of the Mayor that some churches in the city still operate with the full complement of their congregation,the Mayor and his team will keep monitoring this situation any church that does not observe the social distancing regulation will be shut down,also as Muslims in the city begin their Ramadan fast they are equally advised to adhere completely to the social distancing regulations of the state government or stand the risk of interruption of their prayer session’s.

The total lockdown earlier imposed on some other parts of the city some days ago subsists.

All public gatherings in the city remain prohibited, markets,public parks,cinemas,lounges, nightclubs and beer parlors must remain closed till further notice.
