Rivers Supreme Courtruling

….Applauds the Apex court for dispensing justice without fear or favour.

Mayor of Portharcourt City Hon Victor Ihunwo JP has congratulated Gov Nyesom Ezenwo Wike CON,GSSRS,POS(Africa) on his victory at the supreme court.

Hon Victor Ihunwo said the supreme court dispensed justice without fear or favour and finally put to final rest all litigations brought by Engr Biokpomabo Awara concerning the 2019 Governorship election in Rivers State.

He said if not for unnecessary desperation and overbearingness there was no need for Engr Awara to go to court abinitio, knowing that he was never in contention for the office of Governor of Rivers State.

In July this year the Governorship election petition tribunal struck out the application of Engr Biokpomabo Awara for filing it’s pre-hearing processes out of time, describing the action as an act of incompetence and abandonment of the matter.

Engr Awara in his desperation approached the appeal court to order the tribunal to hear the matter on it’s merit.
The Appeal court obliged him the request by ordering the tribunal to hear the matter on its merit which the tribunal heard and subsequently dismissed on the 5th of October 2019.

Today the supreme court has said that the appeal court erred by ordering for a retrial at the tribunal and thereby closed any window of appeal for Engr Awara.

The Mayor of Portharcourt has advised Engr Biokpomabo Awara and his supporters in the All Progressives Congress faction loyal to the Minister of Transportation Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to realize that God Almighty alone gives power and have chosen to give it to Gov Nyesom Ezenwo Wike at this time.

He said Rivers state is for all of us,let’s all jettison politics of hate and join the performing Governor of Rivers State to move the state forward.

As Mayor of Portharcourt City his doors are always open to all that will join in moving the state forward as the era of politics has officially ended for now.

Hon Victor Ihunwo congratulates Gov Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and prays that God Almighty grants him sufficient grace as he pilots the affairs of the State.
