PHALGA MAYOR URGES RESIDENTS OF THE CITY TO PARTICIPATE FULLY IN THIS MONTH’S SANITATION EXERCISE

…Calls on security agencies to enforce the restriction of human & vehicular movements during the exercise.

The Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) has announced that this month’s environmental sanitation exercise will hold on Saturday 26th October 2019.
Mayor of Portharcourt City Hon Victor Ihunwo JP has urged residents of city to participate fully in the exercise.

The Mayor said residents should use the opportunity to clean their surroundings,drains and ensure for the free flow of water through water channels.

Hon Victor Ihunwo enjoined the twenty councillors of the city to ensure they mobilize members of their various wards during the exercise.

He directed security agencies in the city to enforce the restriction of human & vehicular movements during the period of the exercise between the hours of 7am & 10am.

The Mayor appeals to community leaders to sensitize their people about the importance of participating in the exercise.

Those cleaning the drains should ensure they evacuate debris generated from the drains so it doesn’t wash back into it when the rains come.

The Mayor will be visible during the exercise to monitor and ensure participation of residents. He appeals to wheelbarrows, trucks and evacuation equipment owners to make them available for the common good during the exercise.

Gov Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has done so much for the people of Portharcourt city, keeping a clean and healthy environment will go a long way in helping him return Portharcourt City to its garden city status.
